WHAT IS THE MOST COMMON ALPACA CLOTHING?

There is literally all kinds of clothing made from Alpaca fiber.  Clothing can be small accessories to large shaws and more. Here at Winterborn Alpaka, we are focusing on the accessories.  However, we will be adding to our clothing collection over time. So of the things we currently offer are scarves, beanies, and socks to name a few.  If you are interested in any of these you can click on this link to find them, or find the menu at the top of the website and click on "Alpaca Clothing".  The clothing we offer is of the highest quality.  The smaller accessories give everyone a chance to own something that is alpaca and warm at the same time.

Alpaca wool turns into Yarn

Alpaca wool is very durable.  It is as versatile as any other wool but it offers higher insulating abilities with lightweight weight fibers.  Alpaca wool is waterproof and doesn't contain lanolin, which many have allergies too. This is an oil that is found in most other wools that make people itch.  And, it doesn't have any course fibers that will stick out and irritate the skin. The wool of an alpaca is super soft and feels very delicate but it actually is the strongest natural material known to mankind.

When you are purchasing clothing with the alpaca wool, you will be purchasing fibers that were once restricted to only the kings and queens of the lands.  It was highly valuable and in Peru, at one point it was more valuable than silver or gold. The people of Peru have great respect for these animals and take great care of them because of it.  They are what they use to earn and income and with our website, they can increase their income and spread their talent worldwide. Purchasing an alpaca garment means you are helping the people of Peru as well.  And, everything done to harvest the wool is very humane. This is important because if you like cashmere, it is not done as humanely as alpacas and the quality is better.

We love our alpacas

Every Alpaca is sheared one at a time just like they did so many centuries ago.  They are tended to and cared for as they should be. This is important to us and we know that it is important to you as well.

There are larger garments made of alpaca wool as well.  Things such as full sweaters and shawls. However, because the wool yarn is so expensive, they tend to be quite pricey as well, but totally worth the splurge, for sure. If you are looking to improve your wardrobe, an alpaca sweater may be just the thing!

Remember, whatever garment you are looking at, it will need care when cleaning.  These are not thrown into the laundry type garments but need special care. You will need to handwash on cold and use wool-approved soap as well as flat dry.  You can put it in the dryer on tumble to soften it back up but not with any heat. If you care for it properly, it can last over a lifetime!
